I felt like I was with one of my friends the whole time, but above all, Gil was an amazing pilot. Thanks so much for a successful mission, Ruben!! I feel well prepared and exited to continue flying and appreciated the opportunity to train with AFIT and Paul. That two-year program looked more and more like a three or four-year program just to get the flying done. Any advertisement is only as good as its product; AFIT is extremely lucky to have found a fit with Eric and I am glad that it connects him with exactly what he was designed to do- teach people how to fly. Even though I didntget a few key things done before I got down there, he went above and beyond the call to make sure I was ready for the check ride and prepped me for a successful check out. My two weeks at AFIT challenged me, but I was met with support and encouragement from my instructor Oleg at every turn. Just now heading back to Seattle. We utilize a 2011 Cessna 162 Sky Catcher for light-sport and private training. A truly magnificent and memorable experience. When I signed up to go St George and fly with Eric my goal was to attempt to obtain my private certificate, however because of my limited time, 9 days, I thought there was a good chance that I might have to return at another time to complete it. Last week, I completed the mission. Pursuing flying as a hobby has been a dream ever since I realized how accessible GA is in the States. When I look back at the whole experience from the perspective of a new day I have only positive thoughts. I tried a couple years ago to get my certificate and the normal day-to-day distractions of running a business and having a family kept me from realizing the dream. He quickly assessed where I was in my training and we practiced a few things and I soloed in just four days and the rest of the training went very smoothly. As soon as we had a good day, he pushed me to knock requirements out, one after the other, and I ended up completing right on time. Before the pandemic, I was working towards my certificate with a Part 61 CFI part-time flying once or twice a week. I really enjoyed the fully dedicated one on one learning more than 8 hours a day and I can ask the instructor to polish my weakness to be the best pilot ever! My PPL journey has been filled with ups and downs, punctuated by an AFIT exclamation right at the end. The days went by incredibly quickly. This came in very valuable on one of my first flights after completing my training, when I landed on a runway with solid black ice, unexpectedly. Knowing this is important because I think the program fits well with Olegs teaching style. The first week I was drenched in sweat I was so nervous. During an intensive two-week program with instructor Michael,I completed my license and learned more than I had over several years at other schools.. All the CFI instructors in the little town where I live thought it was absolutely crazy that I was attempting the accelerated flight training. You employed just the right amount of demonstration and encouragement along with a demand for solid fundamentals of flight from me.
